Wrestling is a game of Power, Stamina and courage. Its one of the oldest games in the world. Its very interesting to see wrestlers, stay fit and play their game over the years to get place in to Olympic Games.

Indian Wrestlers have great contribution in the game of Wrestling. They have beaten some of the best wrestlers in the world. No doubt they increase the level of this world famous game.

Here are some Wrestlers who contribute allot in Indian wrestling.

5. Udey Chand


Udey Chand is great wrestler from India, who win first individual world championship medal from Independent India (1947). He got bronze in lightweight (67Kg) freestyle at the World Wrestling Championships in Yokohama in 1961.
He won two silver medals at Jakarta Asian Games in Freestyle and Greece-Roman style wrestling formats.
He award with Arjuna award in 1961, the first person to get this pride.

4 Jatindra Charan Goho


Goho is one of the greatest wrestlers in India and the first Asian to win the World Light Heavyweight Championship in US in 1921.
During his career he win against great Jimmy Esson, the ‘Scotch Giant’, then world’s heavyweight Champion Ad Santel.
He have his own technique of wrestling holds. He is also known as inventor of wrestling skills like dhonka, tibbi, gadhanet, dhak, tang pat, dhobiya pat and kulla which later become integral part of Indian wrestling.

3. K D Jadhav


KD Jadhav is the first Indian who win first medal for India in Olympic 1952. He clinched bronze in Helsinki Olympics. He had missed medal in 1948 in London Olympics and finish in 6th place but manage it in next Olympics.
He was awarded with Arjuna award in 2001, but he deserve much more.
