Karoly Takacs was the first person to won two repeated gold medals in Olympic Games in 25-meter rapid fire pistol event with his left hand because his right hand was injured.
He was born on 21 January 1910. After completing education, he joined Hungarian army. His ambition was to become the best shooting player of that time. In 1936, he achieved this by winning all the national level shooting competitions. In 1936 there were some official reasons because of that he was not the part of summer Olympics.
He has focused his goal on Olympics and started his training, but in 1938, during training in the army, he met with an accident. A hand grenade exploded in his right hand and he lost his right hand. But this accident hadnâ€™t dwindled his dream. He started practising of shooting with his left hand. It was a new start because with left hand he could not even write. Still, he decided to make left hand his shooting hand. His one-year hard work and dedication towards his dream won Hungarian national pistol shooting championship.
