Oh! Muralitharan is Indian and played for Sri Lanka (Birthday Special Story)

Deshabandu Muthiah Muralitharan is a former Sri Lankan cricketer. He retired from cricket in 2010 after rated as greatest Test Match Bowler registering his 800th wicket on 22 July 2010 from the last ball of last over in his last Test Match. Muralitharan holds the world record for world’s most wickets taking bowler in both ODIs and Test.

Life and Family

Muralitharan was born 17 April 1972 to Hill Country Tamil family in Kandy, Sri Lanka. His father Sinnasamy Muttiah runs a successful biscuit-making business. Muralitharan’s grandfather came from South India to work in the tea plantations of Sri Lanka. But His grandfather returned to his country but his sons, including Muralitharan’s father, remained in Sri Lanka.
He got his first coaching in St. Anthoni’s College, Kandy runs by benedictine monks. He starts his career has a medium pace bowler but on the advice of coach Sunil Fernando he took up off spin when he was 14 years old.
Murali married Madhimalar Ramanmurth a Chennai native, on 21 March 2005. He holds Overseas Citizenship of India and does not need a visa for travelling to India.
